Hamburger SV have agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with Hanwha Group, continuing the trend of German soccer clubs entering partnerships with solar energy companies.

The Hanwha Group will work with HSV to install a solar energy system at a municipal soccer facility in Hamburg, and will run various joint programmes to raise awareness of renewable technologies in the city. The company will have an advertising presence at HSV's home Imtech Arena, with signage on the external walls of the stadium. Hanwha also sponsored the 2nd August friendly between HSV and Spanish club Valencia, which took the name "Hanwha Solar Cup."

Across the road at the O2 World Hamburg, affiliated club HSV Handball have extended their partnership with Deutsche Bahn and S-Bahn Hamburg for the 2011/12 season.

The second-tier platinum sponsorship deal will see S-Bahn Hamburg retain its branding on rotating perimeter boards courtside at the O2 World Hamburg, and repeat activities such as card and jersey raffles at HSV Handball home games. Financial terms of the deal were not released, but it is valued by Sponsors.de at around US$140,000 a year.

Deutsche Bahn subsidiary Autokraft also remains the team's official coach partner for away games.
