English watchmaker Graham has become the official timekeeper of the Spengler Cup, the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world.
The deal was brokered by IMG’s Swiss subsidiary, IMG Schweiz, the exclusive marketer of the Spengler Cup. It will run for two years.
Graham will receive a range of advertising rights and hospitality services under the contract, including on-ice logo placement and exposure during TV broadcasts.
The firm is no stranger to ice hockey, currently serving as the official timekeeper of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings.
Eric Loth, the chief executive of Graham, said: “The highly popular Spengler Cup competition is a perfect match for a brand like Graham. Upholding the values of fair play and fighting spirit, the Spengler Cup is the pinnacle in Switzerland’s ice hockey calendar, featuring world-class teams, which helps to provide an impetus to our creativity and makes us proud to be Swiss.”
The 87th Spengler Cup will be held in Davos, Switzerland, from 26th to 31st December. It will feature the Rochester Americans from the AHL, KHL team CSKA Moscow, Team Canada, Vitkovice Steel from the Czech Extraliga, Switzerland’s Genève-Servette and the host team, Hockey Club Davos.
