Golfplan title sponsors PGA tournament

Golf insurance provider Golfplan has signed a three-year deal to become the title sponsor of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.

Golf insurance provider Golfplan has signed a three-year deal to become the title sponsor of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.

The deal, financial terms of which were not released, will see the Bristol-based company become title sponsors of the pro-am tournament, which holds a grand final purse of US£25,000 and attracts entries from more than 500 UK clubs, until 2016.

Douglas Young, managing director of Golfplan Insurance, said: “We are delighted to be the new sponsors of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge. With the backing and financial strength of our parent company, Canopius, we are firmly committed to growing the Golfplan brand.  This sponsorship is an ideal step in establishing closer relationships with golf professionals and club members to ensure that our superior insurance products are readily available to match our golfing customers’ needs.”

PGA chief executive Sandy Jones added: “It was with great delight that I met with Golfplan and listened to their intentions to support our PGA members in their everyday business which in today’s economic world is much-needed and very welcome.
