Comcast-Spectacor, the parent company of the Philadelphia Flyers National Hockey League (NHL) franchise, has reached a new radio agreement for the team with Greater Media Philadelphia.
The multi-year deal – which sees the Flyers switch, like Philadelphia’s NBA outfit the 76ers, from previous partner CBS Radio – covers all regular season and play-off games from next season.
Greater Media’s 97.5 FM The Fanatic will be the flagship station, along with simulcast AM station 950 WPEN Radio. Several games will also be aired on sister station, 93.3 WMMR-FM.
Broadcasts on 97.5 The Fanatic and 950 AM WPEN Radio will include 20 minutes of pre-match build-up and 40 minutes of post-match coverage, which will include player interviews and a live broadcast of Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette’s post-game press conference.

“We’re thrilled to be working with a partner that is 100 per cent committed and excited about the Philadelphia Flyers,” said Comcast-Spectacor president Peter Luukko. “We’re also happy that the Sixers have moved over to Greater Media Radio, along with us. Greater Media Radio is an incredible partner which offers us numerous promotional support for the Flyers on all their stations.”
According to an official statement, ‘the Flyers and Greater Media will work cooperatively to build a radio network outside the immediate 97.5 FM and 950 AM radio signal areas to enable more sports fans in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware to catch all the action of Flyers home and away games on radio.’
Greater Media’s John Fullam added: “We are delighted that the most passionate and intimidating fans in sports, Flyers fans, will find themselves tuning to 97.5 The Fanatic and 950 WPEN Radio to catch all the excitement of Flyers games.”
The Flyers are currently 1-0 to the good in their best-of-seven second round play-off clash with the New Jersey Devils.
