The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced that it will live stream the NBA Finals to fans in India via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for the very first time.

All seven games featuring the Toronto Raptors and two-time defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, have been made available for free to fans in the country across the NBA’s social media accounts.

The finals are also being broadcast via the territory’s Sony channels, including Sony Ten 1, Sony Ten 3 and Sony ESPN.  While its social media and broadcaster coverage will be presented predominantly in English, all games featured on Sony Ten 3 will be available with Hindi commentary.

“We are always looking to provide our passionate fans in India with more ways to experience the excitement of our games,” said Diane Gotua, the NBA’s vice president of global business operations.

“Streaming this historic matchup on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, along with broadcasting the games across SONY, will deliver unprecedented access to the NBA Finals.”

The agreement follows an announcement NBA made in December that Mumbai will host two games between the Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings in October, as North America’s premier basketball league seeks to break new ground in India.

This season’s NBA finals, which tipped off on 30th May, also marks the first time that the league’s championship series will feature games played in Canada.  Throughout the 2018/19 regular season, Sony featured more than 300 live NBA games across its network.
