The South African arm of French car rental firm Europcar has agreed a sponsorship deal with the South African Rugby Union (SARU).
The Paris-founded firm becomes the official car rental supplier to SARU, its national squads and national teams.
The partnership will debut at the Castle Lager Incoming Series in June, a four-team series between the Springboks, Italy, Samoa and Scotland.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to be associated with the Springboks,” said Dawn Nathan-Jones, chief executive of Europcar South Africa. “We aim to keep our brand continually evolving and this is a natural progression from our sponsorship of the HSBC Sevens World Series tournament.
“We’re also a proudly South African company and we see the Springboks as the pinnacle of South African sport. The Springboks represent everything South African and creates a spirit that brings our country together.”
Jurie Roux, chief executive of SARU, added: “We’ve been working together with Europcar on the sevens in Port Elizabeth for a while now and their passion for the game of rugby has always been evident. To see them getting involved on a broader spectrum is fantastic and I’m very happy to see Europcar join our group of very dedicated official suppliers.
“Their passion for delivering effortless service can allow us to remain focused on our jobs without distractions – in the zone. It’s a winning combination.”
Europcar become SARU’s ninth official supplier, joining financial services provider Discovery, electronics firm Acer, rugby brand Gilbert, South African couriers Globeflight, gym chain Virgin Active, healthcare firm BSN Medical, coach company Springbok Atlas and brandy maker Klipdrift.
