The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has confirmed Poland will be the fourth co-host of EuroBasket 2025 after the global governing body’s European board concluded its voting on the location of the final tournament group.
The Polish city in question will be announced in November, completing the hosting lineup for the continental national team tournament. In March, Latvia was selected as the host of the final phase of the competition, as well as one of the groups, with Cyprus and Finland also getting one group each.
Ukraine had been the favourite to become the fourth co-host, however Fiba decided to look to at other options amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
“We introduced the multiple-host model for Fiba EuroBasket 2015 and it has proved a resounding success in every edition since then, culminating in the 2022 edition,” said Fiba’s European president, Turgay Demirel.
“There were already three exceptional hosts in place for the 2025 tournament and it is the view of the board that the Polish candidacy made for the ideal final addition to this winning team.”
