The England men’s soccer team’s matches are returning to ITV from next September thanks to a new deal between the commercial broadcaster and Uefa.
Channel 4 has hosted coverage of Gareth Southgate’s side outside of major tournaments since 2022, taking in last year’s Nations League, the ongoing Euro 2024 qualification campaign and friendlies.
But ITV has now struck a deal with European soccer’s governing body to host England games from September 2024 through to June 2028.
The agreement covers England’s qualifiers for the 2026 Fifa World Cup in North America and the team’s qualifying campaign for Euro 2028, which English soccer’s Football Association (FA) and Ireland are bidding to host.
All told, the deal includes at least 40 matches, including England’s Nations League fixtures and friendly games.
Niall Sloane, ITV director of sport, said: “We’re delighted to bring the England men’s team back to ITV, which keeps coverage of their progress between major tournaments on free-to-air television.
“We have an experienced team here who are looking forward to bringing viewers all the action and insight from England’s qualification campaigns in the coming years.”
