- Raducanu joins German rival Angelique Kerber as Porsche ambassador
- 19-year-old adds to ‘multi-million pound’ deals with Vodafone, Tiffany’s and Dior, among others
British tennis star Emma Raducanu has been named as a brand ambassador of German automobile manufacturer Porsche.
Fitness permitting, the deal ensures Raducanu will enter the WTA Tour’s Porsche Tennis Grand Prix event – held at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart – for the first time, as well as securing the 19-year-old’s presence in marketing campaigns for the automaker.
Raducanu joins Porsche’s roster of brand ambassadors that includes German rival Angelique Kerber. No figures have been quoted for the deal, but the British player’s stock is high after her fairytale run to the US Open title last year.
Oliver Blume, Porsche chairman, said: “[Raducanu] embodies not only a new generation of strong and self-confident players but, as a personality, is also an inspiration and role model beyond the realms of her sport for young women all over the world.”
“It’s really important for me to align with partners and brands that I really feel passionate about and that I identify with,” Raducanu added. “I think this partnership with Porsche is incredible and obviously I’m really excited to see what sort of exciting things we can do going forwards.”
The latest deal sees Raducanu add to a partnership portfolio which already includes Nike, British Airways and Evian. Additionally, Vodafone recently signed Raducanu to a deal reportedly worth UK£3 million (US$3.94 million) a year. She also earns around UK£2 million (US$2.64 million) from each of her respective endorsement deals with French fashion label Dior and US jewellery brand Tiffany’s.
