Aberdeen Asset Management, the key shirt-sponsor for Edinburgh RFC, has extended their commitment to the club for an additional season.

The international investment management group joined the club in 2008 at a time when Scottish clubs and the Scottish Rugby Union were struggling to secure sponsorships. The new deal offers a welcome financial respite for the club, currently placed sixth in the 2010 Magners League.

Martin Gilbert, chief executive of Aberdeen Asset Management said: "I am pleased to announce that Aberdeen Asset Management has made a commitment to Edinburgh Rugby for a third consecutive season. Scotland and Edinburgh in particular continues to be an important element of our global business so we are delighted to support the city’s rugby team."

The Scottish Rugby Union has struggled financially in recent years after losing big names The Famous Grouse, Highland Spring and BT.

Edinburgh's next game is away to the Cardiff Blues on the 7th May.
