DAZN lands Japanese rights to Rugby World Cup warm-up matches

Streaming platform to show England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland Tests.

International sports streaming platform DAZN has added exclusive rights to several Rugby World Cup warm-up Test matches played in the UK and Ireland for its Japanese offering.

The over-the-top (OTT) service has announced a slate of summer internationals ahead of the tournament, which kicks off in Tokyo, the Japanese capital, on 20th September.

Among the fixtures available to its subscriber-base in Japan, DAZN will stream games featuring England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland from 10th August, as some of Europe’s top-tier nations go head to head in preparation for rugby union’s biggest prize.

As part of its production, DAZN is drafting former Japanese rugby players for commentary duties, and will also provide a platform for users to ask them questions. In total, DAZN will show nine matches up to 9th September.

The latest additions to DAZN’s rights portfolio bolster its rugby offering in Japan which includes Premiership Rugby, England’s top-flight, and the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup, European Rugby’s top two club competitions.
