- Four-year deal agreed until 2027
- Exclusive rights secured in key markets
Sports streaming service DAZN has strengthened its women’s soccer portfolio with the acquisition of international rights to Germany’s Frauen Bundesliga.
DAZN is already the domestic broadcaster for the German top flight but will now also have the exclusive rights in Italy, Spain, Japan, Canada and Brazil, as well as non-exclusive rights in the rest of Europe, excluding the Nordics, Baltics, Poland and Netherlands.
The broadcaster will take the German Football Association (DFB) feed and apply international graphics and English language commentary for four games each matchday. The four-year deal starts next season and lasts until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
The acquisition builds on DAZN’s global coverage of the Uefa Women’s Champions League (UWCL), the Women’s Super League (WSL) and the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
“DAZN is incredibly excited by this new deal which will allow us to further grow our women’s football viewership,” said Tom Burrows, global head of rights at DAZN.
“The Frauen Bundesliga adds to our growing portfolio of women’s football rights, including Uefa Women’s Champions League, Finetwork Liga F, Barclays FA Women’s Super League, National Women’s Soccer League and WE League.
“We are wholly invested in maintaining our role as the global home of women’s football and committed to increasing visibility around the game and closing the coverage gap. We are thrilled to be able to make this fantastic league accessible to viewers all around the world.”
Earlier this year, DAZN launched a women’s soccer free ad-supported television (FAST) channel and also offers a women’s soccer-only subscription in Spain, where it is the domestic broadcaster for the Liga F competition.
