NH Hoteles has extended its sponsorship of the Davis Cup, the premier international team event in men’s tennis.

The Spanish company first partnered the competition in 2004, and has since seen a boom in Spanish tennis, with Rafael Nadal rising to challenge Roger Federer for the title of the world’s best player and Fernando Verdasco also cementing his position in the top ten. Injury prevented Nadal from competing for Spain in the 2008 final, but a team of Verdasco, David Ferrer, Feliciano Lopez and Marcel Granollers ended the competition as champions.

“We are delighted that NH Hoteles has decided to extend its sponsorship of Davis Cup by BNP Paribas through 2012,” said ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti. “The growth of NH Hoteles, now represented in 22 countries in Europe, Africa and the Americas, has made it one of the world’s most successful hotel brands. Its partnership with Davis Cup, played in over 80 countries, has proven to be a great fit for both the ITF and NH Hoteles. As Davis Cup continues to prosper, so do our sponsors; we grow together.”

Iñigo Onieva, corporate marketing officer for NH Hoteles, said: “NH Hoteles’ involvement with Davis Cup reflects the company’s commitment to sport, which it sees as being one of the most important activities in society. The competitive spirit, teamwork and the desire to constantly improve are values associated with Davis Cup. NH’s participation as a global sponsor of Davis Cup since 2004 has been a fundamental tool in supporting the expansion of the chain over the past few years and bringing the NH Hoteles brand to places it has never been before.”
