Coco Gauff’s US Open final victory over Aryna Sabalenka was watched by 3.4 million viewers on ESPN, which marks the network’s largest ever TV audience for a women’s tennis Grand Slam final.
Confirmed:
- ESPN’s viewership for Gauff’s win was up 92 per cent on last year’s US Open women’s final
- The American’s triumph was this year’s most-streamed US Open broadcast on ESPN+
- Novak Djokovic’s final victory over Daniil Medvedev averaged 2.3 million viewers on ESPN, up eight per cent year-over-year (YoY)
- This year’s women’s and men’s semifinals combined were the most-watched ever on ESPN, averaging 1.9 million viewers and up one per cent on last year
- The tournament’s coverage across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 averaged one million viewers overall, which was down 17 per cent on 2022
Context:
The viewership for the US Open helped ESPN achieve record engagement across its digital platforms, with ESPN Digital being used by 39.1 million unique visitors on 9th September.
The Disney-owned network also revealed the ESPN App set a new single-day record with 13.7 million unique visitors in the US on the same day.
