Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Cincinnati Reds are offering discounted game tickets to fans who have received a coronavirus vaccination.

The franchise said view level tickets will be available at a reduced price of US$10 to those who show their Covid-19 vaccination card with at least one dose completed.

The Reds are the first US sports team to offer a vaccination incentive, according to MLB.com

The offer is valid at the ticket windows at the team’s Great American Ball Park for games played between Monday and Thursday in April and May. A maximum of six tickets can be purchased with each vaccine card shown.

Once purchased, the tickets will be issued digitally via the MLB Ballpark app to allow contactless entry.

As of 8th April, 32.8 per cent of Ohio’s population has received at least once vaccine dose, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This falls in line with the national average of approximately 33 per cent to have received at least one dose.

CDC adds that 19.5 per cent of Ohio’s population has been fully vaccinated, also in line with the national average.
