Carlsberg has agreed to extend its sponsorship deal with the Danish national soccer team until the 2020 Uefa European Championship.

The Copenhagen-headquartered brewer has been a sponsor of the country’s soccer side since 1978 and the new deal will take the partnership up to a 42nd year. No financial terms of the four-year deal have been revealed.

Peter Giacomello, sponsorship manager for Carlsberg in Denmark, said of the renewal: “Soccer will always be a part of Carlsberg's DNA and we are pleased to support the national team and its new coach.”

Denmark failed to qualify for Euro 2016 in France, for which Carlsberg was an official sponsor as a global Uefa partner.
