US-based agency CAA Sports has announced its acquisition of the London-headquartered Base Soccer Agency for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 1997 by Leon Angel, Base represents more than 300 international soccer players, coaches and managers globally, including Premier League stars such as Kyle Walker, Fred and Danny Rose.

With 60 employees located at its London head office, the company operates a network of consultancies spanning Europe, South America, Australia, Asia and North America. It is led by player agent Frank Trimboli.

Michael Levine, a co-head at CAA Sports, described Base as “one of the foremost international football representation firms in the UK”, adding: “We are confident they will play an integral role in the continued global growth of CAA Sports.”

The latest acquisition expands CAA Sports’ reach and influence in the field of global athlete representation. As well as representing the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Shohei Ohtani and Dwyane Wade, the company also jointly handles the marketing rights to a host of major names in soccer, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho and James Rodriguez, through a longstanding partnership with Polaris Sports, Gestifute’s commercial arm

According to a company statement, CAA Sports currently manages over US$9.3 billion in total on-field contract value, more than any other agency.

“We are delighted to be joining forces with CAA Sports and we feel that, together, Base and CAA Sports will become an even more dominating force in football representation and trading,” said Angel.

“Base’s reputation as a leading agency has been built on its ability to deliver the best deals for our clients whilst always maintaining trust and integrity. We feel that with the extra resources at our disposal we will be able to deliver more for our clients together with CAA Sports.”
