British pay-TV broadcaster BT Sport has confirmed that the finals of the 2019 Uefa Champions League and Uefa Europa League will be shown free-to-air across its linear and digital channels.
The two showpiece events will be available on the BT Sport app, website and, as revealed by SportsPro, streamed live via the broadcaster’s YouTube channel. BT Sport has also announced that the European club finals will also be made available free to those with a Virgin TV subscription.
The broadcaster has also announced a number of digital options for viewers. The BT Sport app will also be utilising HD High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology for the first time, with users also able to choose specific camera angles and rewind the game to watch key moments from the match in real time.
Marc Allera, chief executive of BT’s consumer division, said: “We want to make BT a company that exceeds our customers’ expectations and does a brilliant job for the country.
“With both European finals being all-British affairs, we’re going to make them easier to watch for everyone in the UK than ever before as well as being the best-connected football viewing experience our customers have ever had.”
The Champions League and Europa League are European soccer’s premier and secondary continental club competitions respectively with both finals featuring English sides.
Tottenham Hotspur will face Liverpool in the Champions League final in Madrid, Spain whilst London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea will play the Europa League final in Baku, Azerbaijan.
BT Sport will also provide public screenings of the Champions League final in both Liverpool and London.
