- DeChambeau first active golfer to represent DraftKings and to advertise a sports betting logo at the Masters
- Last year’s major at Augusta ranked among top five highest-bet sporting events on DraftKings, excluding NFL games
Bryson DeChambeau has been unveiled as ‘the face of DraftKings golf’ ahead of next week's Masters at Augusta.
The American has signed an exclusive, multi-year deal with the daily fantasy and sports betting company that will see him don the DraftKings logo on his golf cap.
In addition, DeChambeau, currently ranked number six in the world and the reigning US Open champion, will represent DraftKings via an integrated brand, content, marketing and VIP-centric collaboration.
DeChambeau, 27, will be the first active professional golfer to represent DraftKings, while he will also be the first to wear a logo of a sports betting or fantasy sports company during the Masters, which is the last of three majors going ahead this year.
“DraftKings has been at the forefront of innovation for how people experience golf, and the company continues to modernise the game through technology built by and for sports fans,” DeChambeau said. “The gaming industry has already helped golf reach broader audiences, and I am proud to work with DraftKings on boosting fan excitement and engagement in the game.”
DraftKings already has a significant presence in golf as the official daily fantasy partner and official betting operator of the PGA Tour.
According to DraftKings, golf is the company’s fourth most popular sport for daily fantasy, while its golf sportsbook handle has grown by more than ten times year over year.
“Professional golf has been a key growth sport in both daily fantasy and sports betting, and our collaboration with Bryson DeChambeau is a notable new layer of mainstream brand exposure and fan experience,” added Jason Robins, co-founder and chief executive of DraftKings.
“As one of golf’s most promising athletes and the current US Open champion, DraftKings is strategically aligning with winning athletes like Bryson who embody and embolden the competitive fire of our customers.”
This year will mark the first time that the Masters has been held November, with the rescheduled edition of the event due to take place from 12th to 15th November. Excluding NFL games, last year’s tournament ranked among the top five highest-bet sporting events on DraftKings.
