Australian Super Rugby side ACT Brumbies have announced a new partnership with the University of Canberra for the first time in three years.
The two had not collaborated since legal trouble emerged between former Brumbies chief executive and Stephen Parker, the former vice chancellor of the University of Canberra, with representatives from both sides now adamant that the differences were between individuals and not organisations.
The new one-year deal will see the university's branding move to the back of the Brumbies' matchday jerseys for the 2017 Super Rugby season. The previous deal was a front-of-shirt sponsorship, but was not renewed due to the ongoing court case.
The news also comes as Brumbies prepare for a decision on their long-term future in Super Rugby, the pan-continental rugby union tournament played by teams from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and Japan. Sanzaar, the competition's organising body, is currently hosting a meeting in London, where they will discuss a motion to cut one Australian team from Super Rugby.
Brumbies are believed to be one of the teams at risk, along with Perth-based Western Force. The two sides are set to play each other at Canberra Stadium on 10th March.
