Borussia Dortmund players create playlists in Deezer deal

Music platform to mix BVB app matchday soundtrack.

Borussia Dortmund have signed a partnership with music streaming service Deezer that includes integrated matchday playlists on the German soccer club’s official app.

The new feature was launched during the Bundesliga club’s 3-3 draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday and will be updated for every game. The club is also launching its own channel on the Deezer platform with playlists created by Dortmund players, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Marco Reus, Marcel Schmelzer and Julian Weigl.

Deezer, which has a similar agreement with Premier League giants Manchester United, becomes Dortmund’s official music partner as part of the agreement.

Carsten Cramer, Dortmund’s director for sales, marketing and digitisation, said: “Music, like football, has the power to unite people. With Deezer, we have the ideal partner at our side to be even closer to our fanbase through music.”

To activate the new partnership, Deezer is offering a three-month, reduced rate family package for €19.09 (US$21.60), to Dortmund fans which allows up to six separate profiles.

Ralph Pighin, Deezer’s vice president for Central and Eastern Europe, added: “Music and football have a long tradition, from warm-up songs to stadium anthems to the favourite songs of the players or artists as enthusiastic fans. 

“As official music partner of Borussia Dortmund, Deezer brings this musical football world directly to the fans and accompanies the sports activities of one of the most successful and big clubs of all time with relevant audio content.”
