Argentinian soccer giants Boca Juniors have announced a long-term partnership with Qatar Airways.
Starting with the 2018/19 season, Qatar’s state-owned flag carrier will serve as the Superliga Argentina outfit’s front-of-shirt sponsor until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Qatar Airways will replace financial services company BBVA, which has sponsored Boca since 2012.
The deal further strengthens Qatar Airways’ presence within soccer and follows last month’s announcement of a new partnership with Roma, which the Italian club described as their largest ever sponsorship deal.
“We are very proud and grateful that one of the most prestigious airlines in the world has chosen Boca Juniors as part of their regional expansion strategy in South America,” said Boca president Daniel Angelici. “We are sure this agreement will be very fruitful for both institutions in fulfilling their objectives and goals.”
“Qatar Airways is delighted to partner with world-renowned football club Boca Juniors as we enhance our sporting sponsorship portfolio with the world’s best teams,” added Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker. “We are excited to further expand our presence in South America with our brand represented on the club’s jerseys, and look forward to supporting the Boca Juniors in their forthcoming seasons.”
Boca are three points clear at the top of the Superliga Argentina, and will clinch the title if they pick up at least a draw from their away game against Gimnasia on Wednesday.
