Diamond Sports Group (DSG) has agreed a deal with streaming platform Roku to distribute Bally Sports+ as Sinclair seeks to grow the direct-to-consumer (DTC) service’s reach across its 21 regional sports network (RSN) territories.
Through the new agreement, Roku will carry the Bally Sports+ service within its platform and offer subscription signup options to watch DSG’s live, in-market local sports offering. Roku users with pay-TV subscriptions will be able to authenticate natively for access to Bally Sports+.
Bally Sports+ launched nationwide in the US on 26th September with an offering largely consisting of Major League Baseball (MLB), but the Roku deal comes with the new National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Hockey League (NHL) seasons approaching.
“Our regional sports audiences include some of the most loyal viewers, and we are excited to expand our reach as we officially launch Bally Sports+, offering fans even more ways to watch their hometown teams,” said Michael Schneider, Bally Sports+ chief operating officer and general manager.
“Roku shares our same passion for delivering live, local sports to fans across the country on a nightly basis. They have been fantastic partners in servicing our pay TV viewers and we look forward to growing our partnership with the addition of our direct-to-consumer offering.”
