Astellas Pharma US Inc has signed up as the title sponsor for the rugby Test match between USA and Australia at Chicago’s Soldier Field this September.
The sponsorship deal was revealed as the fixture, which is set to take place on 5th September, was announced by USA Rugby chief executive Nigel Melville.
Pharmaceuticals company Astellas Pharma US, an affiliate of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma Inc, will present the test match, which will be the final game for the two sides before they head to England for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. The World Cup kicks-off on 18th September.
James Robinson, the president of Astellas Pharma US, Inc, said: “Astellas is dedicated to helping people live a healthy life, and we believe that physical activity is a key part of that.
“The commitment to healthy living that we see from these top-tier rugby players is an example we should all take to heart.
“Furthermore, we look forward to bringing many activities to the city leading up to and at the match that will generate excitement for the sport of rugby, provide opportunities to educate about how people can live a healthy life and engage fans in being active members of the community so many Astellas employees and customers call home.”
The match will be the USA Rugby Eagles’ second game at Soldier Field within the last 12 months. The US national side took on the current world champions, the All Blacks, at the home of the National Football League’s (NFL) Chicago Bears last November.
