Asian Tour attracts title sponsor in Myanmar

The Myanmar Open will return to the Asian Tour next year with title sponsor Zaykabar committing to the event again after a one-year absence.

The Myanmar Open will return to the Asian Tour next year with title sponsor Zaykabar committing to the event again after a one-year absence.
 
"Zaykabar is proud to be the title sponsor of our national Open," said Dr. Khin Shwe, chairman of Zaykabar – a Myanmar-based construction company. "With the tournament, we hope to develop and grow the game of golf in the country."
 
The tournament will take place at the Royal Mingalardon Golf Club in the city of Yangon from 2nd to 5th February, 2012.

Asian Tour executive chairman Kyi Hla Han commented: "The Myanmar Open is a popular stop on the Asian Tour and many of our players are excited and always look forward to a return to the country.
 
"We hope the presence of the Asian Tour will continue to inspire the younger generation in Myanmar to take up the game and represent Myanmar on the international stage," he added.
 
Thee-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Thongcjai Jaidee of Thailand and South Africa's James Kingston are previous winners of the Myanmar Open which was first staged in 1996.
