Gaming firm Caesars Entertainment has struck a multi-year deal landmark deal with Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE).

The firm owns both the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Philadelphia 76ers and the National Hockey League’s (NHL) New Jersey Devils.

The agreement will see the Caesars Casino and Sports betting app made available inside the new Caesars Club, a 5,000-square-foot premium restaurant and bar that will be located on the main concourse of the Devils’ Prudential Center home. The facility will provide VIP hospitality to premium seat members for all of the ice hockey franchise’s home games, as well as for concerts staged at the venue.

In addition, Caesars will have its branding appear on Prudential Center’s 80 digital boards, outer LED board, club level tickets, premium wristbands and concourse pillars. The company will also have a presence at 76ers games through advertising placements.

The casino owner will promote both sports teams at its more than four dozen venues worldwide. The deal is designed to introduce sports fans to Caesars Entertainment’s sports book and digital platforms. The marketing deal will also allow Caesars to promote non-sports book elements of its Atlantic City casinos to 76ers and Devils fans.

“Prudential Center and Caesars Entertainment are industry leaders in sports and entertainment,” said HBSE chief revenue officer Adam Davis. “With a partnership that synergistically bookends the state of New Jersey, Caesars Entertainment can connect with engaged sports and live event fans to promote its new sportsbook and mobile sports betting app throughout the Garden State.”

The deal means that Caesars Entertainment is the first gaming company to sign a deal with an NBA and NHL team in the wake of the US Supreme Court’s decision to relax sports betting laws in the country. Since the ruling, New Jersey became one of the first US states to legalise sports gambling.

“Caesars Entertainment has enjoyed a long relationship with the New Jersey community,” added Chris Holdren, chief marketing officer for Caesars Entertainment. “With the introduction of the Caesars Club sports lounge, we’re excited to expand our relationship and deliver our world-class hospitality and entertainment in a new part of the Garden State.”

The tie-up comes just one week after the Devils became the second NHL franchise to announce a betting deal, partnering with William Hill US. Crucially, the agreement was signed on a non-exclusive basis, with team president Hugh Weber saying that the franchise expects to make US$5 million this year from its gambling sponsorships.

The NHL and NBA are also the only major US sports competitions to have signed league-wide betting deals – both of which are with MGM Resorts International.
