Vinai Venkatesham has joined the British Olympic Association (BOA), the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as a new independent non-executive director.
Venkatesham, who was part of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) for 2012, is also the chief commercial officer for top-flight English soccer side Arsenal, where he leads a team of over 200 permanent staff and is responsible for the Premier League outfit’s sponsorship, strategy, ticketing, hospitality, retail, marketing, fan services, customer relationship management and media business.
Additionally, he is a member of the Arsenal executive team and a board member of Arsenal Broadband Limited, which owns the club’s media and digital rights, while he also served as a non-executive director at the London 2017 World Athletics and World Para Athletics Championships.
“Vinai brings to the board an established track record from both LOCOG and Arsenal,” said Sir Hugh Robertson, chairman of the BOA. “His excellent commercial background, coupled with his knowledge of digital marketing, can only be of great benefit to us. I very much look forward to working with him.”
