The metaverse is on everyone’s mind at the moment but what really is it and what does it mean for sport?

That is the subject of this week’s StreamTime Podcast as host Nick Meacham and SportsPro community lead Chris Stone are joined by Charlie Beall, a consulting partner at sports digital agency Seven League.

The trio consider what is currently known about the metaverse and look at some of the sports organisations that have already launched projects in a virtual environment, including the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Spanish soccer’s LaLiga.

The conversation also covers the benefits of being an early adopter and explores how platforms such as Roblox and The Sandbox provide different avenues for sports properties to enter the space.
