ScorePlay gets investment from Kevin Durant’s Thirty Five Ventures and Apex Capital

Sports technology firm targets US market expansion with fresh capital.

Lisbon-based technology firm ScorePlay has received new pre-seed funding from Thirty Five Ventures, the investment vehicle backed by Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman, as well as Portuguese investment firm Apex Capital.

Confirmed:

  • Funds to be used to accelerate the artificial intelligence-powered (AI) asset management platform’s growth
  • US expansion is also being targeted by ScorePlay after opening a New York office

Context:

Recently listed in SportsPro’s ‘sports tech ideas to invest in now for 2023’, ScorePlay works with more than 100 sports properties to create social content, support marketing campaigns and generate commercial value.

In July, the company raised €1 million (US$1.06 million) in a seed funding round that included investment from Sorare chief executive Nicolas Julia and German soccer star Mario Götze.

Coming next:

ScorePlay is next looking to close its formal seed funding round, which is set to be completed in the next few months.
