Infront Sports & Media has announced that its longstanding head of active lifestyle and endurance, Hans-Peter Zurbruegg, has been appointed as the managing director of Ironman in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Zurbruegg will continue his commitments in the active lifestyle business while expanding his portfolio to oversee the development of Ironman from the company's base in Liederbach, Germany.
Late last year Infront was merged with the World Triathlon Corporation, operator of Ironman, to create Wanda Sports, after the Chinese firm Dalian Wanda acquired both during 2015. Zurbruegg's expanded role reflects Wanda's desire for increased collaboration and integration across its mass participation sectors.
“Following the creation and development of the active lifestyle and endurance unit at Infront, I am delighted to add Ironman, the global leader in mass participation sports, to my responsibilities,” said Zurbruegg. “I look forward to contributing to the sustainable growth of the sport of triathlon in Europe, Middle East & Africa, and helping the team continue to create unparalleled experiences for our athletes.”
