Report: Ricketts family agrees to buy Chicago Cubs
Widespread reports claim that the Ricketts family has reached a deal to buy the Chicago Cubs baseball team from bankrupt media company Tribune Co.
"There is a deal between the Ricketts and Tribune Co," a source close to the deal was quoted as saying by Reuters.
The Ricketts family, led by Chicago investment banker Tom Ricketts, agreed a provisional deal to buy the team and other assets for US$900 million in January.
"The terms are very similar," the source said. "It's slightly less than that."
The Chicago Cubs were valued as the 78th most valuable sports property in the world in a groundbreaking SportsPro report.
