Nascar launches food drive for hungry children
The Nascar Foundation has announced that it will join forces with Feeding America, the hunger-relief charity, to provide 350,000 meals to children and their families in need.
The campaign, which will run through July and August, will see organised events and fundraising supported by the Foundation. For example, the Nascar Foundation Hunger Walk for Kids presented by Hock Foods will be held next weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. A range of prizes are on offer for fundraisers, including a VIP tour of the track for anyone who raises more than US$500. The top fundraiser will receive a pace-car ride from a track official around Chicagoland Speedway after the walk.
The event itself will give fans the opportunity to walk a lap around the track prior to watching the evening's race.
