Madrid hopes world record attempt will boost 2016 bid
The organisers of Madrid's bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games will stage a world record attempt to boost the profile of their bid and celebrate the expected addition of golf as an Olympic sport.
The Madrid organisers, who received some criticism in the International Olympic Committee's final technical evaluation, will attempt the simultaneous teeing-off of 2016 golf balls.
Golf and rugby sevens have been recommended for addition to the Olympic roster, though the final decision will rest with the IOC's 106 members who will vote in Copenhagen on Friday 2nd October - the same day as the hosts of the 2016 Games will be announced.
