Chelsea and West Ham driving fans off the drink
A study commissioned by the Liberal Democrats has found that London clubs Chelsea and West Ham are the two most expensive English soccer clubs at which to buy a pint of lager.
The most expensive pint in soccer is £3.80, charged by Chelsea, with West Ham following close behind on £3.60. That compares to £3.20 at both Anfield and Goodison Park, reported the survey, with a figure of £2.70 at Burnley and £2.90 at Bolton and Wigan. The figures reflect the cost outside the grounds, with London a far more expensive place to buy a pint than anywhere else in the UK.

"These figures show that Premier League bosses are a long way from ending their love affair with money," said Liberal Democrat Shadow Sports Secretary Don Foster. "Not only do fans have to pay sky-high ticket prices, but they pay way over the odds to enjoy a pint. They must not continue to take advantage of the goodwill of their dedicated followers particularly in this time of economic recession."
