Arsenal set sights on breaking the USA as Kroenke ups investment

09 October 2009 | By Adam Fraser

Alongside China and India, the USA is seen as one of the greatest potential revenue sources by English Premier League clubs. Arsenal, the club in which US tycoon Stan Kroenke upped his shareholding to 28.3 per cent last month with another seven-figure investment, has now launched a website dedicated to its American fanbase.

The website, USA.Arsenal.com, has been launched in response to the large numbers of US fans visiting Arsenal's official site - 3.5 million in August alone, according to the club. 'History and background to the north London club sits alongside news on all aspects of Arsenal including the Ladies, reserve teams and weekly exclusive interviews with manager Arsène Wenger and first team players,' report Arsenal. 'The Jargon Buster also allows any visitors to the site to get up to speed with all the terminology of the game.'

Arsenal.com editor Richard Clarke told the website: "We feel the introduction of a US version of Arsenal.com represents real progress. The USA has always been our most popular territory after the UK in terms of traffic, and we want to expand in this area. It was vital for us to employ an editor based Stateside so we could properly reach out to Arsenal fans in the US. We really believe this could be a huge development in the way people connect with our club."
