Vero, which is an ad-free photo-sharing app with an emphasis on interaction, has enjoyed a surge in popularity this year, reaching number one in the UK’s Apple store in February.

Touted as a rival to Instagram, Vero will feature at the next WSL Championship Tour event in France in Hossegor.

Vero’s Social Lounge will be created at the event’s Fanzone for spectators to meet other fans, including a dedicated beach side area for fans to relax at during the competition.

The next-gen social platform will also offer VIP ticket experiences as part of the agreement.

The WSL’s Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France events take place from 3rd-14th October.

Sponsorship

German soccer club Hertha Berlin have signed a sponsorship deal with European financial trading platform EuropeFX, which will feature across the club’s advertising and digital campaigns.

The National Football League’s (NFL) New York Jets have entered a multi-year partnership with Centenary University, which will see them launch an educational program for students in New Jersey.

Fitness equipment provider Technogym has been announced as an official supplier of the PGA Tour in a multi-year agreement.

International fitness brand Fitness First has become an official partner of the National Rugby League (NRL) Women’s Premiership and Touch Football in Australia.

Sportswear company 2XU has been named as the official apparel partner of Hendrick Motorsports.

Financial company Wescom has entered a ten-year sponsorship deal with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). It will also be the presenting sponsor of Pauley Pavilion, home to the university’s basketball teams.

The Canadian Premier League (CPL), Canada’s professional soccer league, has announced Italian sports manufacturer Macron as its official kit provider. The inaugural CPL season kicks off in spring 2019.

Media Rights

Pay-TV network Astro has secured rights to broadcast coverage of English Premier League soccer in Malaysia for three seasons starting in 2019/20.

Sky Sports Racing has won exclusive rights to show horse racing coverage from France in a three-year deal starting in 2019.

Telecoms company Ovo Mobile has announced an exclusive deal to stream soccer coverage from the Chinese Super League in Australia.

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has agreed a deal with streaming platform Mycujoo to broadcast coverage of all Nepalese top-flight competitions in a four-year digital rights deal. The league has not run since 2015 due to a lengthy dispute involving ANFA, but starts again this weekend.

English second-tier soccer club Rotherham United have launched their first esports team, with the club in talks to enter the Virtual Pro Gaming (VPG) league.

The British Esports Association is teaming up with soccer club West Ham United and retailer Game to launch an activity week for teenagers to promote the benefits of physical sport and video gaming in a pilot scheme.

Overwatch League (OWL) franchises London Spitfire and Houston Outlaws will both take part in the Overwatch Gilded Gala, an event split into two matches, one of which being the first international Overwatch series game to take place in London – the other being held in Texas.
