Wimbledon strikes Tencent Sports partnership

Tencent Sports has become signed a deal with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), becoming the exclusive live streaming partner of Wimbledon in China.

Internet media giant Tencent, which signed a similar deal for the French Open earlier this year, will broadcast live coverage of every match at this year's Championships at Wimbledon across its various online platforms, as well as offering further additional content to Chinese fans via its extensive web presence.

The deal comes just days after the AELTC confirmed a partnership with Sina Sports, a rival of Tencent's, which will see the Weibo operator offering scores, news and other exclusive social media content to its users.

The 2017 Championships, Wimbledon got underway today and will conclude on Sunday 16th July.

Tencent also recently announced an exclusive distribution deal with cycling's Tour de France.
