US second-tier soccer outfit Las Vegas Lights have become the first US sports team to announce an official betting partner, signing-up UK-based bookmaker William Hill for 2018.

The partnership will see William Hill promote its Nevada mobile betting platform to fans of the United Soccer League (USL) club, offering matchday odds on pre-event and in-play markets. Lights fans will also be able to activate their mobile sports account at William Hill syndicated sports betting properties across Nevada.
“We want to be the first team in North America to go to the top of the mountain and scream to our fans to take out their phones and bet on the game happening right in front of their eyes,” Lights owner Brett Lashbrook told LVSportsBiz.com
The recent US Supreme Court decision overturning the ban on sports gambling was a major win for William Hill, opening the possibility of the company extending its sports reach beyond Nevada and a handful of other states.
William Hill US chief executive officer Joe Asher added: “Las Vegas is truly a sports destination, and the Lights FC have been a great addition to the city.”
The Lights currently sit 13th in the USL Western Conference, suffering a 4-0 defeat in their most recent fixture against Didier Drogba's Phoenix Rising.
