Law firm Wedlake Bell has signed an agreement with London cricket ground The Brit Oval that will see it sponsor an alcohol-free area of the stadium with the aim of attracting more children to matches during a summer of top-class cricket.
Alongside Surrey County Cricket Club's home matches at the ground, England will meet Australia in the Ashes, cricket's most famous and historic competition. Wedlake Bell's deal will also cover the 2010 season.
The company ran a similar scheme during 2008, when the 'Wedlake Bell Alcohol-Free Family Stand' was introduced as an area for parents and young children to watch matches in a family-friendly environment.
"The response received during the 2008 season for our participation in promoting the Wedlake Bell Family Stand was outstanding," said Wedlake Bell's senior partner David Earl.
"The initiative was ground-breaking and has encouraged Surrey County Cricket Club and Wedlake Bell to solidify our relationship further by extending this facility to all major matches run by Surrey County Cricket Club at the Brit Oval.
"The Wedlake Bell Family Stand is a dedicated environment suitable for all age groups and encourages a great atmosphere which no doubt helps towards great match experiences. We look forward to the Ashes 2009."
"We seek to make improvements to the Brit Oval spectator experience every season and one of our most well received recent innovations was the Wedlake Bell Family Stand," added Zac Toumazi, the Brit Oval's group commercial director.
"It was hugely successful last season and it is fantastic that, with the help of Wedlake Bell, we have been able to expand the concept for 2009."
