Second-tier German soccer side VfL Bochum have entered a new one-year partnership with Trivago.
The hotel search engine will serve as the 2. Bundesliga outfit’s main sponsor, and its logo will adorn the front of the first team’s home and away playing shirts for the duration of the 2017/18 season.
According to German news outlet Sponsors.de, the deal will earn the club just under €1 million (US$1.2 million).
Wilken Engelbracht, VfL Bochum’s commercial director, said: “With Trivago, one of the largest German internet success stories ever has been written. We are extremely proud to have such an innovative company at our side as a partner, and we are absolutely convinced that both sides will benefit from the cooperation.”
“VfL Bochum has more than what one might expect at first sight,” added Axel Hefer, chief executive of Trivago. “The same values are important to us: team spirit, trust, openness and passion. We both believe in tolerance and diversity and our talents, which we promote and develop with all our strength. We are looking forward to the partnership with the club and to the realisation of joint ideas in a hopefully exciting and successful soccer season.”
VfL Bochum finished ninth in the 2. Bundesliga in 2016/17, and begin their new campaign at home to FC St Pauli on Friday.
