New energy drink Venom Energy has signed endorsement deals with 14 athletes across a range of sports in America, including top football and baseball stars.

Rather than sponsor athletes or teams in one particular sport, the drink, made by Dr Pepper Snapple Group, has selected athletes from several sports and from cities across the nation.

Six footballers, none of whom play for the same team, lead the way: Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears; DeMarcus Ware of the Dallas Cowboys; Joey Porter of the Miam Dolphins; Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers and Lofa Tatupu, of the Seattle Seahawks, as well as Adam Jones, currently a free agent.

Alongside them are four basketball stars - Joe Johnson, Kenyon Martin, Jordan Farmar and Roger Mason - as well as three ice hockey players - Milan Lucic, Pavel Datsyuk and Max Talbot. Houston Astros first baseman Lance Berkman is the only MLB star.

"From Berkman's crushing homers to Ware's devastating hits, the Venom Energy athletes play with energy and power that personifies the impact of the brand," said Chanda Rhodes, director of marketing for Venom Energy. "Venom Energy awakens the power within and allows you to seize the moment."

The Venom Energy athletes will participate in promotions and marketing campaigns and will be featured on in-store merchandising materials in their respective regions.
