USA Rugby, the national governing body for rugby union in the United States, has announced a new apparel partnership with Adidas.
The multi-year deal sees the global sportswear company become the official kit supplier to the US national teams. Under the contract, it will provide competition wear and training apparel for all age-group and representative squads.
Adidas replaces BLK, the troubled Australian brand, as USA Rugby’s kit supplier. Financial terms and the duration of the contract have not been revealed.
"We are extremely proud to partner with adidas and offer our athletes the best athletic apparel possible," said David Sternberg, the chief executive of USA Rugby's commercial arm, Rugby International Marketing.
"Adidas is a world-renowned brand that supplies kits to some of the most successful athletes and teams in the world. Adding a partner of their stature is further proof of rugby's growth in the United States and around the world.”
The USA Eagles will debut their new kit at this weekend’s Hong Kong Sevens tournament, while the USA Women's Eagles will sport custom designs at this August's Women's Rugby World Cup in Ireland.
The official Adidas-made kits will be made available for public purchase next month.
