The athletics division of the University of Hawaii has signed a ten-year multimedia rights deal with IMG.
The agreement will see the global sports agency manage and market the sponsorship and multimedia rights for all 21 Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine varsity sports teams until 2027.
For the last fifteen years, the university handled its multimedia rights operations in house. IMG will base three full-time employees within the college’s athletics department who have a familiarity with the local market. The financial details of the contract have not been disclosed.
“This partnership with IMG holds the promise of taking our corporate partner program and multimedia rights to an even higher level and we're excited about that,” said David Matlin, the University of Hawaii’s athletics director. "IMG has a large national footprint across collegiate athletics that could open the way for new supporters of UH Athletics.
“In addition, beyond athletics, IMG is a worldwide entertainment company that could also provide other opportunities which would benefit our department.”
Tim Pernetti, president of IMG College, added: “We are thrilled to partner with the University of Hawaii as we work together to build upon the foundation of the strong Rainbow Warrior Athletics brand. Our relationship will focus on providing partnerships and unique solutions that will deliver a great experience for the UH community and its student-athletes.”
