Uganda Rugby Union agrees deal with Nile Breweries
Nile Breweries has agreed to a multi-year sponsorship deal with the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) to support the development of the sport in the country.
The three-year deal sees the local brewer providing US$73,100 annually in sponsorship through its flagship brand Nile Special. US$34,800 of that total will be donated to support the 2011 Premier League.
Additionally Nile Breweries sponsorship will cover the logistical and organisational requirements of the Uganda Cup and Uganda's national teams.
Daniel Ogong, Nile Breweries marketing director, said, "Since we started this sponsorship, we have seen a lot of growth in rugby with new and promising talent featuring in several teams especially from the upcountry teams as well as a growing interest in the game as reflected in the fast growing increase in fan numbers."
