Uefa has awarded Star Times the free-to-air media rights in sub-Saharan Africa for the Uefa Champions League and the Uefa Europa League.

Beginning with the 2012 season, the three-year agreement enables Star Times to distribute the free-to-air rights for the first and second tier competitions of European club soccer to broadcasters across sub-Saharan Africa, with the exception of South Africa, until 2015.

Financial terms of the agreement were not released.

In other African soccer news, Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) has announced a lucrative deal with two leading Tanzanian Premier League (TPL) teams.

Under terms of the sponsorship package, TBL will pay US$3 million over a three-year period to 2010/11 TPL runners up Simba SC and champions Young Africans, primarily in order to help fund monthly player wages.

Finally, South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) team Wits University Football Club has signed a two-year kit deal with Nike.
