UK pay-TV broadcaster BT Sport has secured exclusive rights to British boxer Tyson Fury’s comeback fight after extending its partnership with promoter Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions.
The former heavyweight world champion will make his long-awaited return to the ring at Manchester Arena on 9th June against an as yet unnamed opponent.
Fury has not fought since dethroning Ukrainian great Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015. He was later charged with testing positive for a banned substance prior to that fight, but accepted a backdated two-year ban at the end of last year, paving the way for him to resume his career.
As well as Fury’s comeback fight, BT Sport will exclusively cover all bouts featuring Warren’s stable of boxers including Billy Joe Saunders and Carl Frampton.
Andy Haworth, managing director of strategy and content for BT Consumer, said: “It is a golden era for British boxing and never has the Warren stable of fighters looked more exciting, with a great line up of established names and up-and-coming young fighters. BT Sport subscribers can look forward to a fantastic summer of boxing.”
“I’m delighted that BT Sport has extended its partnership with myself and Queensberry Promotions,” added Frank Warren. “The first year of our partnership has seen us deliver some outstanding fights and we look forward to some even bigger nights in 2018 and beyond, whilst continuing to do what we do best: developing the next crop of star boxers.”
