Two new partners for San Jose Earthquakes
Major League Soccer (MLS) team the San Jose Earthquakes has announced sponsorship deals with soft drink organisation, 7up Bottling Company, and with Farmers Insurance.
Drinks produced by 7up Bottling Company, a division of the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, will be sold at all of the Earthquakes home games, with a sampling booth and display within the Buck Shaw Stadium. The Nevada-based company, already a partner of Minor League Baseball team the Reno Aces, will also run in-store competitions linked to the Earthquakes, with prizes including tickets to matches and team jerseys.
Farmers Insurance will have ‘clearly displayed’ advertising signage within the club’s stadium, as well as advertising spots during Spanish radio broadcasts of all 34 of the Earthquakes games, and in ‘Free Kick Magazine’ – the team’s official match-day programme.
Both the 7up Bottling Company and Farmers Insurance receive permission to use the San Jose trademark.
No financial details of the new partnerships have been released, however, the overall value of the deals is likely to be around a low- to mid-six figure sum.
"This type of new business partnership really shows the value that the Earthquakes organization can bring to other companies," said Earthquakes president David Kaval. "The 7up Bottling Company is one that has a large reach with all of their successful brands of soft drinks, and Farmers Insurance has been providing coverage to people all over the United States for almost a century, so we are happy to become partners with both of them.
Sky Pace, 7up Bottling Company northwest region cold drink manager added: "We look forward to a long, consistent partnership with the San Jose Earthquakes. We feel that the Earthquakes will continue to be a leading MLS team and together we will grow their fan base, interest for soccer as a whole and love for the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Family of brands.”
San Jose Earthquakes lost 1-0 in their first match of the 2011 MLS season against Real Salt Lake, but will be looking to bounce back in their next match against FC Dallas on 26th March.
