Seven West Media, the domestic broadcaster of the Australian Open Tennis Championships 2017, has signed an agreement with Twitter, giving the social media giant the right to stream live video and highlights in Australia.
Blackmores is set to offer branding for the streams, while Twitter will give pre-video advertising to fellow sponsors including William Hill, ANZ and KIA.
Laura Froelich, Twitter’s head of sports content partnerships, said: “Twitter is where sports lovers come to witness and relive their favourite moments, and there’s nothing more iconic than the Australian Open. By working with Seven, we can bring them more reach and revenue for the best moments from their premium coverage of one of the biggest tournaments in sport.”
In related news, Schweppes’ water brand Frantelle has been named as the official water provider for the 2017 Australian Open.
Frantelle replaces Australian brand Mt Franklin, which supplied bottled water for the tournament last year.
The Australian Open, tennis’ first grand slam of 2017, gets underway on 16th January. Novak Djokovic won the competition last year, defeating Andy Murray in the final in straight sets.
