Twitch becomes ELeague’s exclusive third-party distributor

The ELeague, a professional esports league, has signed a deal making Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch its exclusive third-party distributor.

The new contract is the third major exclusive media rights struck by an esports property in January.

Beginning with ELeague Major: Boston this weekend, Twitch now joins Turner Sports and ELeague.com as the only places to watch live ELeague.

In the past, some of the esports league’s events had also been shown on Twitter and YouTube.

Until recently, ELeague distributed its competitions across a variety of streaming sites as it looked to expand its reach. Now, the Atlanta-based league follows Overwatch League and ESL in signing exclusive distribution deals.

Separately, ELeague also announced it has renewed two sponsors - Dell/Alienware gaming PCs and HyperX headphones. This year will be the third for the HyperX-ELeague partnership, while Dell/Alienware is in the second year of its tie-up.
