Mitsubishi Electric has signed a deal to become an official partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The company will become the 13th second-tier 'official partner' of the 2020 Olympics, and the 28th local sponsor in total.
The deal, brokered on behalf of the local organising committee by its exclusive marketing agent Dentsu, will see Mitsubishi designated the 'elevators, escalators and moving walkways' sponsorship category.
"By providing elevators, escalators and moving walkways, Mitsubishi Electric is making a significant contribution to the realisation of a barrier-free society and to promoting para-sports," said Tokyo 2020 president Yoshiro Mori.
Financial details have not been revealed, but Dentsu is believed to have guaranteed Tokyo 2020 US$1.5 billion in local sponsorship revenue.
With 28 partners signed up already, that figure is almost certain to have been reached, with a revenue sharing arrangement between Dentsu and local organisers now likely to be in play.
